I read this novel as a teenager. Pollyanna represents that innocent girl who always stays happy despite so many problems in life. The Pollyannic way of life means keeping that cheerful face every single day and staying warm and positive no matter what troubles this world throws on your face.
Pollyanna also represents those few books which I have actually read. I would not deny that I don’t read books that often. I tend to watch the TV adaptation of famous novels. The few books which I have actually read are my prized possessions and I cherish them fondly.
Today, I want to emphasize why we need this Pollyannic spirit in day to day life. I believe in goodness of humanity but seeing the decay of friendship, the selfishness and transactional nature of most relationships, I feel heartbroken and disappointed. It is in those moments that I go back to the world of Pollyanna and try to bring her positive nature in life.
When the world is not supporting your spiritual self, you need to look within and derive it from your own experience. You are a big library of multiple things. For me, Pollyanna is that prized jewel of my experiences and I thank her for making me see the beauty of this world in the darkest of times.
