Avni was sitting in her dorm room, feeling bored and restless. She had just finished her first week of college and she was already starting to feel homesick. She missed her family and her friends, and she was starting to wonder if she had made a mistake by coming to college so far away from home.
She was staring out the window at the campus quad, watching the students walk by. She saw a group of girls laughing and talking, and she felt a pang of envy. She wished she had friends like that.
Just then, she saw a young man walking towards her dorm. He was tall and handsome, with dark hair and blue eyes. He was wearing a college t-shirt and jeans, and he had a backpack slung over his shoulder.
Avni couldn’t take her eyes off of him. He was the most beautiful man she had ever seen.
The man stopped in front of her dorm and knocked on the door. Avni’s heart started to race. She couldn’t believe it. He was coming to see her.
She took a deep breath and opened the door. “Hi,” she said. “Can I help you?”
“Hi,” the man said. “I’m Sidharth. I’m in your English class.”
“Oh, hi,” Avni said. “I’m Avni.”
“It’s nice to meet you,” Sidharth said. “I was wondering if you wanted to go to the movies with me this weekend.”
Avni was so surprised that she almost said no. But then she thought about how bored she was, and how she didn’t have any friends.
“Sure,” she said. “I’d love to.”
Sidharth smiled. “Great,” he said. “I’ll pick you up at 7:00 on Saturday night.”
Avni watched Sidharth walk away, feeling a little bit excited. She couldn’t remember the last time she had been on a date.
The rest of the week went by slowly for Avni. She couldn’t wait for Saturday night.
When Saturday night finally arrived, Avni was so nervous that she could barely eat dinner. She kept checking the clock, waiting for 7:00.
Finally, at 7:00 sharp, there was a knock on the door. Avni took a deep breath and opened the door.
Sidharth was standing there, looking even more handsome than she remembered. He was wearing a blue button-down shirt and khaki pants, and he had a bouquet of flowers in his hand.
“Hi,” he said. “These are for you.”
Avni took the flowers and smiled. “Thank you,” she said. “They’re beautiful.”
Sidharth smiled back. “You’re welcome,” he said. “Are you ready to go?”
Avni nodded. “Yes,” she said.
Sidharth took Avni’s hand and they walked out the door.
They drove to the movies in Sidharth’s car. Avni didn’t know what movie they were going to see, but she didn’t care. She was just happy to be with Sidharth.
They got to the movies and bought tickets to see a romantic comedy. Avni loved romantic comedies, and she was excited to see this one with Sidharth.
They found seats in the theater and sat down. Avni leaned over and whispered to Sidharth, “I love romantic comedies.”
Sidharth smiled. “Me too,” he said.
The movie started, and Avni and Sidharth were instantly hooked. They laughed and cried together, and they held hands throughout the entire movie.
When the movie was over, Avni and Sidharth walked out of the theater hand-in-hand.
“That was a great movie,” Avni said.
“I know, right?” Sidharth said. “I’m glad you liked it.”
Avni smiled. “I did,” she said.
They walked back to Sidharth’s car, and Avni got in.
Sidharth got in the car and started the engine. He turned to Avni and smiled. “I had a really nice time tonight,” he said.
Avni smiled back. “Me too,” she said.
Sidharth leaned over and kissed Avni on the cheek. “I’ll see you again soon,” he said.
Avni nodded. “I can’t wait,” she said.
Avni couldn’t stop thinking about Sidharth after their date. She couldn’t wait to see him again.
The next day, she went to English class and sat in the same seat she had sat in the day before. She hoped that Sidharth would sit next to her, but he didn’t.
She was disappointed, but she didn’t let it get her down. She knew that she would see him again soon.
After class, Avni went to the library to study. She was sitting at a table, working on a paper, when she saw Sidharth walk in.
He saw her and smiled. He walked over to her table and sat down.
“Hi,” he said. “I was hoping to see you again.”
Avni smiled back. “Hi,” she said. “I’m glad you came over.”
They talked for a while, and Avni found out that Sidharth was from a small town in India. He had come to college in the city to study engineering.
Avni told Sidharth about her family and her friends back home. She told him about her dreams for the future.

When it was time for Sidharth to go, he walked Avni to her dorm.
